05/09/25
Last nights 5 mile TT Championship was the conclusion to this years club TT season.
The event was won by Matt Goodwin, with Sam Abdy taking the Championship, and Martin Softley and Gaz Stacey finishing in Second and third, Gaz with a new PB.
The Ladies Championship was a dead heat with Marie Page and Catherine Smart finishing in joint first position, both achieving PBs and new category records in the LVet2 and LVet3 categories.
Congratulations also to Luke Dixon and Simon Gardener on their PBs.

Three year long Championships were also settled last night. Simon Abdy won the Club Championship with Gaz Stacey and Darren Busby coming second and third.
The Club Handicap Competition was won by Gaz Stacey with John Gadie and Simon Gardener coming second and third.
And the Four Best Tens was won by Matt Goodwin with Sam Abdy and John Gadie coming second and third.

All that remains to say is a massive thank you to all timekeepers/assistants, marshals, pushers off and anyone else involved in organising the events. All of the riders appreciate the hard work and effort put in by all of you.

On a great night for the penultimate 10 mile TT of the year, there were five PB's and two Category Records.
The event was won by Andy Thomas, closely followed by Stuart Wells.
Congratulations to Luke Dixon, Jason Girling, Marie Page, Simon Gardener and Catherine Smart on their PBs, of which Catherine's was yet another LVet3 Category Record.
Special mention needs to go to Marie who smashed the previous LVet2 Category Record by an impressive 43 seconds, but even more impressive is the fact that that record has stood since 2010!

Last night was the final Deepdale 10.5 mile circuit TT of the year held in sweltering conditions.
The event was won by Sam Abdy, who also clinched the Deepdale Challenge competition.
Congratulations to Simon Gardener, April Page, Jason Girling and Catherine Smart on their PB's. Catherines PB was also another LVet3 Category Record.

The results are in!
Well done to LRCC for winning the Inter Club Championship. They won with an unassailable lead on 567 points with BWCC runners up with 520 points.
Although we did have 2 round wins, a poor turn out of just three riders for the fifth event left us with too big a deficit.
Thanks to LRCC for co-hosting a successful new competition, which we hope will continue well into the future.

Last night's 10 mile TT was the sixth and final round of the Inter Club Championship.
The event was won by Tony Nash, closely followed by Sam Abdy in second place, with Martin Softley in third.
Congratulation to Jason Girling on his PB.
Whilst BWCC won last night's round of the Championship, we wait with bated breath for the overall series result of what has been a very enjoyable addition to the season. Thanks to LRCC for co-hosting the events which we hope will continue next year.

A further two championships were decided in last night's 15 mile TT.
The event was won by Matt Goodwin in a course PB, with Sam Abdy in second place, claiming the 15 mile Championship. Gaz Stacey was runner up in the Championship with a PB, with Darren Busby finishing in third.
The Ladies Championship was won by April Page, with mum Marie coming second.
Congratulations to Kevin Sayles on his Vet4 Category Record, beating the previous time set in 2009, and to Jason Girling on his PB.

Sam won the Vets 10 mile Championship with Martin Softley and Darren Busby coming second and third.
Catherine Smart won the 10 mile Ladies Championship with Marie Page coming second.

Last night's 25 mile TT saw three championships decided.
The event was won by Matt Goodwin in an amazing time of 54:59, with Shaun Robinson and Sam Abdy finishing second and third.
This meant that Sam won the 25 TT Championship, with Luke Dixon and Rhys Barratt finishing second and third on their road bikes. This was Rhys' return to racing after a number of years off.
Sam also won the Mike Frow Memorial 25 TT Vets Championship, which is the best of the three 25 mile TTs on Vets Standard.
Catherine Smart won the Ladies 25 TT with a PB and LVet3 Category Record.
Congratulations to Kevin Sayles on his new Vet4 Category Record, beating the old record held by Colin Abdy which has stood since 2008.

Last night's 10 mile TT was held in very hot conditions.
It was narrowly won by 2 seconds by Sam Abdy from Tony Nash.

Another Championship was decided last night in the Handicap 10 mile TT.
The event was won by Andy Thomas in a great time of 20:58, followed by Matt Goodwin with a PB and Vet1 Category Record.
However, the star of the show was Jason Girling who won the Handicap Championship with a PB which was an amazing 90 seconds quicker than his previous.
Congratulations also to John Gadie for a new Vet3 Category Record and to Mark Gollings and Richard Benbrook on their PB's.
The event was also the fourth Inter Club event in which BWCC took their first win of the series. Well done to all points scorers.

Another championship was decided last night in the Middlemarkers 25 mile TT. To count for the championship you must have a PB time of over 1:03:00.
The event was won by Sam Abdy being the only rider under the hour, with Mark Gollings taking the Championship in third place. Second and Third in the Championship were Darren Binns and Simon Gardener.

Last night saw three club members in action in the ADDFORM Vive Le Velo 10 TT held on the V7113/1 course at Market Weighton.
Sam Abdy produced another Open Vet2 Category Record finishing in 21:14 which was also a Last Three Seasons PB, and finished in 17th place.
Luke Dixon smashed his PB finishing in 22:21 and claiming 5th in the Road Bike Category and 27th overall.
John Gadie was unlucky and had a mechanical issue, but still finished in a very commendable 22:37, 30th overall.
Special mention goes to second claim member Andy Thomas who finished in 19:48, 5th overall.
The event was won by Adam Duggleby in 18:00.

Last night saw the first championship of the year decided in the Longmarkers 25 mile TT. To count for the championship you must have a PB time of over 1:06:00.
The event was won by Sam Abdy being the only rider under the hour, with Gaz Stacey taking the Championship in second place. Second and Third in the Championship were Simon Gardener and Darren Binns.
Congratulations to both Gaz and Simon who smashed their previous PB's by over 6 minutes and 1.5 minutes respectively.
Congratulations to John Gadie on his new Vet3 Category Record.

On Tuesday night eight club members attended the Inter Club event hosted by LRCC on their C10/4 course.
Matt Goodwin finished 6 overall and was the first BWCC member of the the five that counted towards the Inter Club Championship. The remaining members to count were Bevan Jones, Sam Abdy, John Gadie and Gaz Stacey, amassing a total of 99 points to a total of 102 amassed by LRCC.
Thanks also to Dave Norris, Martin Haworth and Richard Benbrook for attending, ensure we had 5 counting riders finish.
Thanks to LRCC for making us extremely welcome and hosting a great event. Here's looking forward to the next one which we will host on 03/07/25.

Last night's 25 mile TT had to be changed to a 10 mile TT because of roadworks. This proved to be a fortuitous turn of events as the weather was that bad visibility on the A15 would have resulted in the event being cancelled anyway.
As it was 7 riders braved the elements to ride in what ended up being a dry race (except for road spray).
The event was won by Andy Thomas, with Gaz Stacey coming second with yet another PB, and John Gadie coming third with a new Vet3 category record.
Well done to all who turned up to ride in the awful pre-race conditions, and special thanks to Rob, Annette and Matt for turning up for timekeeping and marshal duties.

Even though last night's Deepdale Circuit TT was held in very windy conditions, seven PB's and two Category Records were achieved.
The event was won by Sam Abdy, with Martin Softley and Mark Gollings coming second and third. Mark achieved both a PB and the Vet3 Category Record (which had stood since 1999).
Congratulations to Gaz Stacey, Dave Norris, Simon Gardener, Jason Girling and Richard Benbrook on their PB's and also to Catherine Smart on her PB and LVet3 Category Record.

Last night was a welcome return to the normal 10 mile TT course.
With a northerly wind it wasn't expected to be a fast night, but there were still two PB's and a Category Record.
The event was won by Andy Thomas and Stuart Well who tied for first place with a 21:12.

Last night was the second Inter Club Competition 10 mile TT event, which was hosted by LRCC on their C10/4 course.
Four BWCC members attended with Sam Abdy recording a 22:43, Gaz Stacey a fantastic PB of 23:30, Dave Norris a 25:43 and Richard Benbrook a 28:20, gaining a total points score of 75 points.
Stuart Wells won the event with a 20:53, which saw LRRC gain 93 points, taking a 30 point lead overall in the competition.
Thanks to the four club members for representing the club, and thanks to LRCC for hosting the event and providing tea and cakes.

Saturday saw Matt Goodwin and Sam Abdy ride the Melton Olympic CC Open 25 mile TT on the A25/33.
This is a revision of the A25/34 course due to roadworks, which proved to be quite demanding - especially the last two miles.
Matt finished in 13th position with a 55:16, with Sam finishing in 20th position with a 57:08.

Last night's 15 mile TT was back on the original course as the roadworks at the underpass have finally finished.
Despite being held in cold windy conditions, three PBs and two Category Records were recorded.
Sam Abdy won the event in 34:54 with John Gadie coming second with a new Vet3 Category Record of 35:52 knocking an impressive 91 seconds off the previous record.
Catherine Smart also achieved a LVet3 Category Record, with Mark Gollings and Jason Girling achieving PBs.
However, ride of the night goes to Gaz Stacey who finished third in a PB of 36:05, knocking a massive 80 seconds off his previous best.

Last night's 10 mile TT was once again held on the alternative course in a temperature half that of the previous week.
​Stuart Wells won the event with a 21:53 with Sam and Matt coming in second and third places.

Last night saw five club members ride the LRCC 10 mile TT held on the C10/4 course.
In cold conditions Matt Goodwin secured fourth position with a 21:58. Martin Softley achieved a 23:05, Sam Abdy a 23:10, Gaz Stacey a 23:41 which was his first sub 24 minute 10 mile TT, and Luke Dixon a 25:54.
Well done to all and especially Gaz on his fantastic PB.

Last night's 10 mile TT was held on the alternative course in very warm conditions.
The event was won with a new course record by Andy Thomas with Stuart Wells coming in second place and Matt Goodwin finishing third with a new Vet1 Category Record.

Yesterday saw a very successful outing for the BWCC Team of Matt Goodwin, Sam Abdy and John Gadie.
Riding in the VTTA 10 mile TT held on the A10/3 course Matt recorded his first sub 21 minute 10 with an awesome PB of 20:44. Sam knocked a further 28 secs off his Vet2 Category Record from a fortnight ago with a 21:17, and John achieved a new Vet3 Category Record which has stood since 2000, with a 22:12 (taking it from Sam’s dad).
Even more impressively, the three Veterans achieved a new Team Category Record of 1:04:13, knocking over a minute off the old record which was set in 1995 by three Senior riders!

Yesterday saw Sam Abdy ride his second 10 mile TT in 16 hours in the City Road Club open event held on the V714.
Despite being slowed three times, he still managed a creditable 23:30 in windy conditions finishing 25th out of 89 finishers.

Last night's 10 mile TT included the first Inter Club Competition with Lindsey Roads CC and Grimsby Tri Club.
The event was won by Andy Thomas in a new course record with Tony Nash and Sam Abdy coming second and third.
Special mention should go to both Jen and Sam Worsley who both recorded category records in their first time trials, with Sam also contributing points to the Inter Club Competition. John, Adam and Catherine also set category records.
The Inter Club Competition saw Lindsey Roads take an early lead with 4 out of the top 6 finishers.

Yesterday saw plenty of BWCC riders in action.
​Sam and John rode the Melton Olympic Open 10 mile TT on the A10/3 course near Newark. Sam completed the course in 21:45 finishing in 33rd place out of a field of 98, which was also a new Vet2 club open event category record by an impressive 44 seconds. John recorded a time of 23:00 finishing in 49th.
Yesterday was also the Stu Simons memorial ride, on what would have been his birthday. About 30 riders set off from Barton Market Place to cover distances ranging up to 120 miles. Three BWCC riders took part, Dave Haddock, Adam Oughtibridge and Dave Norris.

Last night was the first 10 mile TT of the season which was held in near perfect conditions.
Again, due to roadworks a revised course was used, which incorporated the Burnham Loop.
Congratulations to Sam on his win, which as it was a new course, was both a category and course record.
Similarly, Dave, Paul, Darren and Annette also recorded category records.

Last night was the first club TT of the year. Due to roadworks at the underpass a new 5 mile course has been created which is the last 5 miles of the 10 mile course. This proved to be a popular course which it is proposed becomes the permanent course for future events.
Congratulations to Matt on his sub 11 minute ride, winning the event in 10:57, which as it is a new course was both a course and category record.
Similarly, Sam, John, Paul, Catherine and Marie also recorded category records.
Thanks to the timekeepers, and also to Paul Smart for stepping in to marshal the event.

Yesterday saw eight riders complete the new 100km reliability ride course.
The new course takes in the Happy Cafe at Sandtoft Airfield where the riders enjoyed the refreshments at the half way stage.
The weather was perfect with bright sunshine.
The ride was completed in approximately 5 hours (including the cafe stop) with a touch over 4 hours of riding.
Well done to all who completed the ride.
