Jim Taylor
Club President
I joined the club in January 1979 basically for some company on Sunday rides but took up time trialling later in the year and continued to compete until 2011. My whole family became involved in time trialling and the management of the club. Although my son left when he finished university, my wife, daughter and I filled the roles of secretary, treasurer and chairman for over 30 years. During this time I also represented the club on the Lincolnshire CTT committee from 1991 to 2017 being an assistant secretary from 2003 to 2017. I have retained my district approvals for timekeeping and handicapping and put these skills to use in supporting the club time trials.

My grandad, uncles and dad were all heavily involved in cycle racing or manufacture, so I was born into it I suppose. I time trialled for over twenty years, did the occasional road race, but am happiest now riding for pleasure having covered almost 120,000 miles, and helping organise and run events for the club

I have been cycling and racing for the majority of my life and am mainly interested in time trials, although I have also competed at road racing, cyclo cross and grass track. I'm as happy out on the road as on my turbo trainer in the 'pain cave'

I joined Barton wheelers in 1979 aged 15 and my 1st club ride was to Lincoln and back. I started racing in 1980 and in 1983 and 1984 was Lincolnshire area champion at 10 and 25 miles and have raced in 100s of time trials over a 40-year period. I have mainly competed in time trials but also competed in road racing and cyclo cross. After 40 years of racing, I now mainly do social riding and enjoy every minute.

I took up road cycling in 2013 and started with the local British cycling Breeze initiative. Since then I have progressed to joining Barton Wheelers for social rides and have just started doing some tentative TT’s. I am also a regular zwifter.

I didn't get into road cycling until my mid 50's sadly, bought a bike in 2013 and joined the club. Started doing TTs straight away really, and got the "bug". Eleven years later I'm not going quicker, but my best last year was better than my best in 2013. I've always enjoyed sportives too, and not not always local. My profile picture is at the Tour of Cambridge last year (sadly not taking place this year). The rider no. 3327 is correct, about 5,000 set off in groups of 100 behind a race car, with a flag drop after 1km, we can all still dream a little.
