The club were represented by current and past members in the lead out for Stu Simons. Around 50 cyclists led Stu out on his final journey, showing how much he was thought of by the people whose lives he touched. Stu was a past member of BWCC and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and rode with him. The club have made a donation to Stu’s charity Tiny Tickers. Congratulations also to both Dave Norris and Peter Wilson for their PB's.

The night also saw the remaining season long championships completed. Congratulations to both Peter Wilson for winning the Club Handicap Competition, and Sam Abdy for winning the Club Championship.

It just remains to say a massive thank you to all competitors, timekeepers, marshals and helpers. Without you, the events wouldn't take place.

Last night saw an awesome time by Bevan of 20:02. Congratulations, but must try harder next time Bevan :-)

Congratulations also to Mark Gollings for a new Vet 3 Category Record of 24:40, beating the previous record which had stood since 2004!

Thanks to the Time keepers and Marshal, and special thanks again to Jo for stepping in to take over signing on duties in Dave's absence.

On a serious note, it is of great concern that we have to report that one of the riders was attacked by 2 men in a red car trying to steal his bike whilst riding home from the event. It sounds like he gave as good as he got and they ran off with their tails between their legs, but only after pushing him off his bike and punching him. Hopefully this was a one off, but just be careful out there!

Last night was the final circuit TT of the season, held in very warm conditions.

It saw a very close result at the top between Tony Nash and Sheehan Quirke, with Tony taking first place by just 2 seconds.

The night also saw Sam Abdy win the Deepdale Challenge, which is the best average time for two of the circuit TT's.

Thanks to the Time keepers and Marshal, and special thanks to Jo for stepping in to take over signing on duties in Dave's absence - we're all thinking of you Dave.

23/07/22 saw the Ben Hird Memorial Ride.

A great turn out of friends and family proved Ben has not gone from all our thoughts.

The ride was a great success in all ways, especially getting people out on their bikes, some of whom would not otherwise have done so.

As Christine said, 'Ben would've been proud (and embarrassed!) of how much we all thought of him and all of us riding together.

We would like to thank Christine and her family for their hospitality towards us.

Saturday 11/06/22 saw six BWCC members attend the RAFA Ride at Scampton RAF Base.

The event consisted of riding as many 4 mile laps of the airfield as riders wanted in warm but extremely windy conditions.

The RAF had even arranged a fly over by the Red Arrows, and all riders received a medal and RAF duck.

The day started with a 90 minute session before riders were brought off the airfield to allow the Red Arrows to take off and perform the fly over, which really was a spectacle.

The riders were then treated to fish and chips before the airfield was once again opened to allow more laps to be completed, including allowing any youngsters to complete a lap (or two).

Throughout the day the Heritage Centre was open with riders and guests being given escorted tours.

All of those attending were treated to fantastic hospitality from the RAF and their volunteers, who deserve a massive thank you.

Thanks to the marshal and timekeepers on a long night for them.

It looked as if it might be the best night of the year so far last night, but in typical fashion the weather turned just before the start of the event with the wind getting up and a slight drizzle. However, this didn't put people off, with the most riders of the year so far.

Congratulations to Stuart Wells for his win, and to Luke Dixon for his PB.

Thanks to the officials and marshal.

27/05/22

Last night saw a very windy Deepdale Circuit TT. However, that didn't stop Both Stuart Wells and Andy Thomas posting fantastic times. Well done to Stuart for the win, and well done to all six of the riders who competed on a hard night.

Last night looked as if it might be the best night of the year so far with a warm 18 degs and a 8mph SW wind for the 10 mile time trial. But the headwind to Elsham mast made it hard work, with the majority being slightly slower than the event on 06/05/22.

Congratulations to Sheehan Quirke for his win, and to those who managed to get a season best time.

Thanks to the officials and marshal, without whom the event could not have been held.

Check out the results and championship positions on the TT Results page.

Don't forget, next week is the Deepdale Circuit time trial.

13/05/22

Last night saw the first 15 mile TT of the year.

Last night saw the first good night of the year for the 10 mile TT, with a favourable SW wind and warm temperature.

This resulted in a fantastic 20:17 for the visiting John Brearley of Squadra RT. Two more times of below 21 minutes proved what a good night it was, heres hoping for plenty more.

Next week sees the first 15 mile TT of the season.

Thanks to the officials and marshal.

Check out the results and championship positions on the TT Results page.

29/04/22

Last night saw a return to the 10 mile TT course after last weeks circuit TT.

Thanks to the officials and marshal.

Check out the results and championship positions on the TT Results page.

Thanks to the officials (and stand in official) and stand in Marshal, without whom the event could not have been held.

Don't forget, next week is the Deepdale Circuit time trial, and the first event of the year to start at 19:00.

08/04/22

Last night saw the first 10 mile time trial of the year take place.

After the cancellation of last weeks 5 mile time trial we were hoping for some better weather, but it wasn't to be, with a bitterly cold 20mph NW wind proving to be testing for the plucky five riders who took part.

Thanks to those who took part and also to the officials for turning out on a very cold evening.

Check out the results on the TT Results page.
